Relax, people - it's only a Lifetime movie. Many
fans of the great Elizabeth Taylor are up in arms over the rumor that
Lindsay Lohan is being considered to play the film legend in an upcoming
movie. And while it remains to be seen whether the rumors have any
truth to them, it's never a bad idea for a producer to float these types
of headline-grabbing stories about a project - even if the initial
public reaction is negative.
Despite her ongoing legal woes and apparent struggles with alcohol and
drug addiction, Lindsay Lohan has managed to claw her way back into the
news via a Playboy pictorial and the aforementioned rumors about a
possible return to acting.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Lohan was being considered for the
role of Taylor, but that the project is still in development and has
been since May of last year. The story also mentions the interesting
fact that Lohan is now being considered for the role of Liz Taylor,
following a Playboy pictorial that was an obvious homage to Marilyn
Monroe. Lindsay's apparently tapping some major icons as she attempts to
resurrect her career.
Since the Playboy pictorial hit the stands, Lindsay has managed to stay
out of the negative spotlight, but it's unclear whether she would be
capable of returning to work on a regular basis. That, of course, would
be the risk of trying to work with someone like Lohan at this turbulent
point in her life. That said, if she managed to hold it together during
production and put together a credible performance, there would be
tremendous upside, both for herself and for Lifetime.
